Currently based in Manchester but originally from Bolton, North West England Karen was blind at birth but her parents brought her up as a normal child teaching her from a young age to make the most of what she has. Educated in boarding schools in Liverpool and Shrewsbury, Karen had a successful career working in various administration roles for Manchester based solicitor firms for 40 years. Not ready to sit back and relax, Karen now spends her time providing inspirational and motivational talks to business, educational and community groups and is writing her first book.
Karen is an inspiration. You couldn’t hear a pin drop at one of her seminars in Burnley in front of a large group of independent business people from around the North West.

As a charity working with Young People from all different backgrounds, we were delighted when Karen did a talk for us. She was inspirational, motivational and gave many food for thought.

My goal is to show people of all backgrounds and abilities that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. I have never let my blindness hold me back and regularly travel independently around the North West attending meetings and presentations. By speaking at public and private events I want to share my experiences and encourage others to stop majoring on what they don’t have and focus on what they do have.
I work with commercial, public sector and voluntary groups and organisations to encourage people at all levels to make the best of their strengths and achieve their professional and personal goals. Drawing on my professional as well as personal experiences, my talks are designed to inspire and motivate.
Speaking at youth groups, schools, colleges I believe that sharing my experiences and the lessons I have learnt along the way can encourage young people to focus on their abilities and strive to be the very best they can be.
